First biofuels flight in Mexico is a success
As promised, here’s a bit more information about the flight that took place on Friday in Mexico and its success!
Taking off from Mexico City at 9.30 local time with a number of high profile passengers, including; the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Interjet, Miguel Velasco, the Governor of Chiapas, Juan Sabines Guerrero (pictured), the Director General of Airports and Auxiliary Services (ASA), Gilberto Lopez Meyer, and Emmanuel Acha Felipe Duarte, President of the Human-Nature Foundation. The flight had reported no problems and travelled 803 KM to land at Angel Albino Corzo Chiapas International Airport.
In fact the flight was so successful that the Director of Airports and Auxiliary Services (ASA), Gilberto Lopez Meyer and the Governor of Chiapas, Juan Sabines Guerrero both were very enthusiastic about the possibilities of further development of biofuels in Mexico. Speaking after the flight, they noted that for more biofuel production, four special refineries have to built at an investment of 120 to 180 million dollars. The aim is to cover at least one percent of Mexican national demand by 2015, equivalent to 40 million liters per year, and raise it to 15 percent in 2020, i.e. over 700 million liters.
Obviously, we at Enviro.aero wish to offer our heart-felt congratulations to all involved in Friday’s flight and we hope that the old adage ‘there’s no encouragement like success!’ will prove true going ahead.
