First generation

• Uses crops otherwise used for food
• Uses valuable farming land, negative effect  on food prices
• Accelerates deforestation
• Potentially negative impact on biodiversity
• Competes for scarce water resources
• Can create larger carbon footprint to produce
• Causing social issues in developing nations and not technically suitable for use in flight
